I am honored and grateful to being inducted as a TAPPI Fellow and to receive PIMA’s 2025 Innovator of the Year Award at TAPPICon 2025.
Further, if you can attend this year’s TAPPICon, being held May 4 – 7 in Minneapolis, come join me for two exciting technical presentations and hosting a Hot Topics Roundtable discussion on Taming Eucalyptus Dust.
Using Advanced Analytics to Improve Manufacturing Performance on May 5. This highlights use of Data Analytics, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence in three areas: Advanced Process Controls, Overall Machine Efficiency and dynamic Modeling for Process Monitoring and What-If Analysis. One topic that is sure to draw attention is: Over 50% of APCs are turned off within 2 years. Don’t let yours be one of them! Join Seeq Phil Pearce and Pulmac David Zerr at hashtag#TAPPICon to learn how analytics and CLPM can keep your APC running at peak performance – plus how real mills are using TAPPI TIPs + Seeq to drive OEE improvements. Measuring & Recording Tissue Paper Dust on Paper Machines & Converting Assets on May 5. This deploys a Class 2 laser to measure fugitive dust levels off paper machines and converting assets. This now allows a means to measure progress as changes in pulp furnish, refining, chemistry, doctor blades, enzymes and other technologies that either increase or decrease the level of fugitive paper dust. Each reading is time stamped and allows comparison between grades, paper machines, converting assets and trials.
